The combined portable water treatment and solar water heater system has been designed for use at the household level in the developing world.
The product is unique and practical for a number of reasons. Most water treatment products designed for use in the developing world do not fulfil families’ warm water needs, Solvatten creates warm water – up to 75°C which is perfect for a number of household and hygiene purposes.
It is made of durable plastic materials and requires no batteries, chemicals or spare parts. The unit has an average lifespan of 7-10 years. Solvatten belongs to a small group of water-purification devices that are capable of achieving the WHO ‘highly protective’ status.
The portable water treatment & solar water heater system has received a massive international attention. Petra Wadström, MD & founder of Solvatten AB, was appointed with “Techician of the year 2015 award” for developing Solvatten. Technician of the year is yearly award highlighting the role of technical landmarks for society, quality of living and enterprising.

Petra Wadström, SOLVATTEN’s inventor, was given the opportunity to present her invention to the President and explain how it is used around the world to improve health, living conditions and help the environment.
