Plastics Europe calls for support for low-carbon plastics in the EU

Plastics Europe calls for market-pull measures for low-carbon products and products from sustainable carbon sources under the Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA) to support European plastics value chains, including the introduction of Union origin requirements. These measures should strengthen Europe’s industrial base and accelerate the transition to a low carbon and circular economy.

Takéto opatrenia na podporu dopytu zo strany trhu, vrátane opatrení súvisiacich s pôvodom v Únii, musia byť pred zavedením dôkladne posúdené, pravidelne prehodnocované a navrhnuté tak, aby dopĺňali – nie nahrádzali – úsilie o obnovenie konkurencieschopnosti Európy.

V prípade požiadaviek na pôvod v Únii by tieto opatrenia mali motivovať k využívaniu plastov vyrobených v Európe vo finálnych výrobkoch.
