K 2025: How do we communicate the value of sustainability through colour, materials and finished in plastics

At the K 2025 trade fair, the Material Design Tours will be led by world-renowned materials design expert Chris Lefteri.

Topics shaping the future of design – sustainability, materials innovation, and the new aesthetics of plastics

At K 2025, the Material Design Tours will be led by internationally acclaimed materials expert Chris Lefteri, a pioneer in materials-driven design thinking.
These curated tours explore how colour, materials, and finishes (CMF) can effectively communicate the values of sustainability – and how recycled plastics can be not only responsible but beautiful.

Lefteri highlights a central paradox: when sustainable materials look just like conventional ones, the sustainability story becomes invisible. The goal is to redefine the visual language of materials, where swirls, texture variations, and other so-called imperfections become a mark of honesty and value.

Innovative case studies like the Xbox Remix controller and Volvo EX30 interiors prove that visible sustainability can become the new benchmark for beauty.

Tours will take place on October 11 and 12 at 10:30 AM. Participation is free of charge, but space is limited.
