Japanese company artience introduces a breakthrough: synthetic polymers to aid in disease diagnostics
artience Co., Ltd. – a well-known Japanese company with over 100 years of innovation history – is preparing to enter the global market with an exciting new product. Starting in July 2025, it will begin selling its new line of specialized synthetic polymers, Sciforiem™ PL 1000, outside of Japan. These polymers are designed for use in modern medical diagnostics.

Benefits of polymers in the Sciforiem PL 1000 series

Polymers in the Sciforiem PL 1000 series are specialised chemicals designed to mimic certain biological functions – even though they are not themselves of biological origin. This makes them ideal materials, for example, for the production of diagnostic tests used to detect diseases in blood or tissue.

These polymers help improve test accuracy by reducing what is known as “non-specific protein binding”, which in practice means that tests will be more reliable and less prone to false results. In addition, they can stabilise sensitive substances used in the tests, thereby extending their shelf life.

What can they be used for?

Applications include:

  • Immunoassays such as ELISA or immunochromatography (rapid tests)
  • Biosensors
  • Biomolecular research and the development of new diagnostic reagents

Products in the Sciforiem series are ideal for laboratories and companies looking for reliable, high-quality materials for the development and production of healthcare tests.

New polymers to be presented in Chicago

The new polymers will be officially unveiled to the world at ADLM 2025 – Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo, which will take place in Chicago from 27 to 31 July 2025. In addition to the PL 1000 polymers, artience will also present another product range – Sciforiem FI Series, comprising fluorescent probes designed for sensitive imaging in biological research.

Why is accurate diagnosis so important?

Today, diagnosis is the key to rapid and precise treatment. If such innovative materials help reduce error rates and increase the reliability of laboratory tests, this could have a positive impact on healthcare and patients' lives worldwide.
