The most common problems of small and medium-sized enterprises as we know them from practice

The seminar The most common problems of small and medium-sized enterprises as we know them from practice took place 24.3.2026.

The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), within the national project Support for the Internationalisation of SMEs 2, has prepared an Export Academy webinar on the topic “The Most Common Problems of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Financial Management and Profit Planning.”

The webinar will focus on the issues of profit planning, corporate financial management, and proper cost and pricing calculation. Using practical examples, it will present situations that companies frequently encounter in practice – for instance, when a company works intensively throughout the year but achieves lower profit than expected at the end, or when company growth causes a cash shortage for settling liabilities. Attention will also be paid to the correct setting of product and service prices, especially when participating in tenders, as well as problems that arise in cost and pricing calculation due to insufficient supporting documents or incorrect cost allocation.

The webinar will also include an overview of the most frequent problems in financial management, such as insufficient financial planning, missing or insufficiently detailed financial plans, inappropriately chosen key performance indicators (KPIs), or unsuitable cost tracking structures in accounting. Situations will also be presented where companies underestimate cash flow management, do not plan future cash flows, or manage receivables and inventory inefficiently, as well as cases of unsuitable financing structures and a lack of overview regarding available financing options.

As a bonus, an overview of the most frequent problems of small and medium-sized enterprises identified in the SME competitiveness assessment project implemented for the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency, in which 35 manufacturing companies were involved, will also be presented.

The goal of the webinar is to highlight these frequent errors and emphasize the importance of systematic financial planning, correct cost calculation, and effective financial management for the stable and sustainable development of a company.

The webinar lecturer will be Renáta Kiselicová, managing partner of the company Centire s. r. o., which focuses on strategic and project consulting, process digitalization, and data-driven decision-making for both the public and private sectors.

You can register until March 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM via the registration form.
