Introduction to functional safety of machinery

16.4.2026 State: Czechia City: Adamov

The seminar Introduction to functional safety of machinery took place 16.4.2026 in Adamov, Czechia.

The safety of machinery is no longer just a legal obligation. It is becoming a key topic for machine manufacturers, integrators, and operators of production lines. Yet in practice, it is still evident that many problems arise right at the beginning — from an unclear understanding of responsibilities, the requirements of standards, or the differences between new machinery and machinery already in operation.

That is precisely why we have prepared the training Introduction to Functional Safety of Machinery, which helps to create a solid foundation for further, more advanced topics. Without properly understood connections, it is impossible to effectively address risk assessment, machinery modernization, or the design of safety functions.

Why Introduction to Functional Safety is important

In practice, we often encounter questions:

  • Who is responsible for the safety of the machine after modification?
  • When is a new machinery assembly created?
  • What is the difference between a manufacturer and an operator?
  • How to navigate standards and legislation?
  • What changes does the new Machinery Regulation bring?

The introductory training helps to explain these connections and create a foundation for further professional topics that go significantly deeper.

What the training will contain

The training program is practically oriented and is based on real situations from the industry. Participants will gradually become familiar with:

  • relationships between laws, directives, regulations, and standards
  • orientation in the hierarchy of standards and their use
  • requirements for new machinery according to Directive 2006/42/EC
  • risk assessment and manufacturer responsibility
  • issues of operated machinery according to NV 378/2001 Coll.
  • the difference between a substantial and non-substantial modification
  • upcoming changes – Regulation (EU) 2023/1230
  • the impacts of cybersecurity in the field of machinery

The training also includes space for individual questions and consultations on specific situations from practice. The schedule includes blocks dedicated to legislation, standards, new and operated machinery, and a final overview of upcoming changes.

Date and venue:
