Toyo Ink Europe introduces the Steraflex GIO UV product line – a new generation of low-migration UV flexographic inks

Toyo Ink Europe N.V., a member of Japan’s artience Group (formerly Toyo Ink Group), has expanded its portfolio of flexographic inks with the launch of Steraflex® GIO UV. This new ink system delivers excellent print and production performance on a wide range of label materials, shrink sleeves and other applications where migration is a critical concern. At the same time, Steraflex GIO fully complies with EuPIA, the Swiss Ordinance, the latest SVHC list from ECHA, as well as other European regulations including the German Ink Ordinance. As a result, it sets a new benchmark for both safety and quality.

The new generation of binder used in Steraflex GIO ensures greater adhesion to a wide range of substrates – from standard films to more demanding label materials. Compared with the previous range, this ink has noticeably better bond strength, even on surfaces with low surface tension, such as BOPP. For manufacturers and brands, this means greater freedom in choosing materials and applications without having to compromise on print quality or safety.

Steraflex GIO also demonstrates the commitment of Toyo Ink Europe to delivering solutions that are not only high-performing but also sustainable and ready for new legislative requirements. “As scrutiny of inks for food packaging becomes increasingly stringent, compliance and transparency are now key,” says Ismail Yilmaz, General Manager of Sales and Corporate Strategy at Toyo Ink Europe. “Steraflex GIO contains no intentionally added photoinitiator 379, so it already meets both current and upcoming requirements of the German Printing Ink Ordinance. This gives printers and brand owners confidence when producing packaging for more sensitive segments, such as food and pharmaceuticals.”

The new Steraflex GIO will be on display at the Toyo Ink Europe (artience Group) stand – Hall 3, Stand A32 – during the Labelexpo Europe 2025 trade fair, which takes place from 16 to 19 September in Barcelona. The company will also present its updated portfolio of LED, UV and EB (electron beam) products, designed to reduce environmental impact and health risks while delivering outstanding print quality.
