PETX - polymer fibres as a replacement for KARI nets - a big help for small builders
PETX40 Polymer Fibres
PETX40 is a Slovak-made product that complies with European standard EN 14889-2, which defines the standards for the use of polymer fibres in concrete. Fibres have been used in construction worldwide for years, and their benefits are clear. If you want to lay concrete like the professionals, it is time to adopt this modern technology.

X Profile for Better Anchorage in Concrete
PETX40 is made from recycled PET plastic, is 40 mm long, has a diameter of 0.65 mm and features a distinctive X-shaped cross-section, which improves the fibre's anchorage in concrete. This profile increases the fibre's perimeter, meaning that its effective surface area in the concrete is greater. This contributes to higher strength and uniform load distribution.
An interesting fact is that 1 kg of this fibre contains as many as 100,000 individual fibres, ensuring its high effectiveness and ability to replace steel reinforcement.
Environmentally Friendly and Practical Packaging
Another advantage of PETX40 is the way it is packaged. Larger packs weighing 5 kg are wrapped in water-soluble film, which means less waste on the construction site. In addition, the packaging is very compact and practical – you can conveniently carry an entire box of fibre in a shopping bag, which is a huge difference compared with bulky steel mesh that is difficult to transport.

How to Use PETX40 Correctly?
Using PETX40 is quick and easy. You can mix the fibres directly with the concrete in a concrete mixer or a truck mixer, allowing at least 3 minutes of mixing. At the correct dosage of 5 kg/m³, the product fully complies with EN 14889-2 and effectively replaces KARI reinforcing mesh where its purpose is crack prevention and uniform load distribution.
The most suitable applications for PETX40 are concreting floors, pavements, screeds, garages and steps on the ground or use as infill for concrete blocks. However, it should be remembered that this fibre is not intended for use in columns, retaining walls, bridges or other self-supporting structural elements.

Advantages over KARI Reinforcing Mesh
Working with PETX40 is not only easier but also significantly cheaper. Handling and transport are far more practical, which means less stress and effort for builders. One 5 kg pack of fibre is sufficient to produce at least 1 m³ of concrete, whereas using KARI reinforcing mesh would require at least two sheets measuring 2 x 3 metres. Imagine the savings in space and time – instead of handling heavy steel mesh, you simply pick up a small box.
PETX40 is therefore not only an environmentally friendly and practical alternative to steel reinforcement, but also a modern solution for anyone who wants to save time, costs and space on their construction projects.
