Key trends, cutting-edge technologies, and a strong link between industry and defense defined the 66th International Engineering Fair in Brno. This year’s MSV highlighted digitalization, automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and energy transformation. The DefenCEO management summit became a major success, bringing together leaders from both the engineering and defense industries. The event also featured the Manager of the Year and Industrial Design Awards, along with thematic exhibitions such as Digital Factory 2.0, ROBOTY 2025, and 3D EXPO.

Czech National Exhibition Unveiled a New Visual Identity

It has become a tradition for the state's support offering for businesses to be brought together in one place at MSV. The Czech National Exhibition at the 66th edition of MSV was a joint presentation by 13 state institutions led by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and served as a comprehensive platform to support Czech businesses and exporters. In one place, they found information on all forms of support, from product development and certification to entry into foreign markets. For the first time, this exhibition was presented using the unified visual identity of the central government authorities of the Czech Republic.

An important part of the Czech National Exhibition was the presentation of successful examples of Czech innovation and technological progress that can inspire further industrial development. Visitors could see demonstrations of applications of 5G networks and hydrogen technologies, as well as a model of the expansion of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant. Next to the Czech National Exhibition, the successful Contact Ukraine project, which connects Czech and Ukrainian companies, continued.

Key Trends in One Place and a Focus on Technologies for the Defence Industry

Alongside the displays of individual exhibitors, several projects introduced visitors to new trends in a comprehensive format. The established Digital Factory 2.0 project, prepared jointly with the National Centre for Industry 4.0, featured a new interactive concept and focused on opportunities for using artificial intelligence in industry. Robotics was also presented in an innovative format at the thematic ROBOTY 2025 exhibition. And 3D printing was also represented, this time in the form of the specialised 3D EXPO exhibition.

This year's key accompanying event was highly successful: the DefenCEO management summit, held under the auspices of the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic and the Association of Engineering Technology, brought together company managers from both the engineering and defence sectors. “We sold out the Rotunda, with a total of 478 registered participants, including speakers. Their composition was also interesting, confirming the CEO in the name – 74 % were general directors, CEOs and managing directors,” said the summit's organiser, Jan Homola, in his assessment.

Successful Transport and Logistics Trade Fair, a More Varied Accompanying Programme and New Awards

There was considerable interest in the international Transport and Logistics trade fair, which presents trends in transport and logistics every two years alongside MSV. It also included the thematic Packaging Live exhibition, which introduced visitors to the world of packaging in practice – from design and printing through filling to the final display. This year's main theme was high-quality inkjet marking. Among the edition's most important accompanying events was the traditional Kontakt-Kontrakt matchmaking project, which facilitated meetings between business partners throughout the trade fair.

This year's opening evening of the trade fair followed an unusual format. Two awards were presented in its first part. For the very first time, the Director General's Award was presented at MSV. It was received by Thomas Alijew, owner of the Swiss company Alfleth Engineering AG, for his continuous participation in the last fifty editions of MSV. The award for a lifelong contribution to the development of Czechoslovak engineering was then received by prof. Ing. František Pochylý, CSc., FEng., who is behind the development of a new type of so-called vortex turbine, making a significant contribution to electricity generation from renewable sources. In the second part of the evening, awards were ceremonially presented in the Manager of the Year competition, which has been organised by the Czech Management Association for more than 30 years.

Following last year's successful debut, the Industrial Design Awards were once again presented at MSV, recognising Czech companies for combining innovation, functionality and aesthetics in the design of industrial products. The winner of the second edition was HOUFEK with its MAXX 5 metal grinding machine, second place went to WAKEMASTER with its MTaxis attachment, and third place was taken by POLAK CZ with its GRABit cabinet. In addition, the Design Lounge advisory centre, run by the CzechTrade Design Centre, opened at MSV for the first time.
