Volkswagen Slovakia becomes the biggest company in business in 2024

Volkswagen Slovakia has been awarded the title of "The Biggest in Business 2024" in the automotive and engineering category in the eponymous ranking announced by The Slovak Spectator magazine in cooperation with the SME newspaper according to the financial results achieved.

Volkswagen Slovakia has been a responsible partner to the country and a reliable employer for more than 33 years. With turnover exceeding 11 billion euros in 2023, it remains the largest company in Slovakia. It also retains its position as the largest private employer. “We achieved this success primarily thanks to our experienced employees and reliable supplier network. We want to remain successful and will continue with the investments already approved for planned projects. However, decisions on future investments in car production in Slovakia depend on support for the economic environment, whose competitiveness is currently not developing favourably,” said Wolfram Kirchert, Chairman of the Board of Management and Board Member responsible for Technical Affairs at Volkswagen Slovakia.

In the year-end rankings, Volkswagen Slovakia also scored highly as Taxpayer of the Year. Together with its employees, it paid taxes and social security contributions for 2023 totalling more than 278 million euros. As in previous years, the company managed to achieve good results and maintain stable conditions for its employees, which also determine the amount of taxes and social security contributions paid. And all this was primarily thanks to long-term strict cost discipline and process optimisation.

The Largest in Business ranking is announced by The Slovak Spectator in cooperation with the daily newspaper SME and the online platform FinStat to mark the publication of the Book of Lists yearbook in 50 categories. It builds on the tradition of the yearbook, which has been published since 1999.
