A plastics dump near Prague is on fire, firefighters have declared the highest level of alert. Dozens of firefighters have been battling a massive fire at a plastic waste dump in Rynholc near Kladno since early Monday evening. It is burning on an area of approximately 200 by 200 metres. A thick black column of smoke could be seen from all over Prague and much of the Central Bohemian Region.

Na skládke voľne uložených plastov začalo horieť po 18:00. Hasiči na sieti X uviedli, že ide o rozlohu približne 200 krát 200 metrov a odpad je uložený do výšky okolo päť metrov.

Keďže sa požiar nedarilo dostať pod kontrolu, vyhlásené boli postupne druhý, tretí a nakoniec osobitný stupeň požiarneho poplachu. Hasiči odporučili obyvateľom v okolí, aby neotvárali okná.

„Zasahuje viac ako 36 jednotiek a ďalšie sú na ceste. Napriek tomu sa zatiaľ nedarí dostať požiar pod kontrolu,“ informovali večer s tým, že päť hasičov je zranených - došlo u nich k prehriatiu. Hasenie komplikujú aj vysoké teploty.
