GRANITOL celebrated 130 years – the production plant in Moravský Beroun opened its doors to the public

Production under one roof – from film to packaging

The main feature of the Open Day was guided tours of the site, which introduced visitors to the entire plastic packaging production process – from blown film extrusion through printing and lamination to sealing the film into finished bags and sacks. Everything takes place under one roof, giving visitors a unique opportunity to see the complete production chain in practice.

A stop at the finished goods warehouse also attracted considerable interest, with a practical demonstration of pallet storage using warehouse handling equipment. For many, this part was not only interesting but also surprising in terms of the scale and organisation of the logistics.

A competition, balloons and small gifts

The programme also included a fun competition, “Follow Granitolák’s Trail”, which took visitors around selected stations and rewarded them with small gifts. Children took home balloons, promotional items and sweet treats. Adults took home practical household helpers as souvenirs – HDPE bags and carrier bags, promotional materials and smiles from an enjoyable day.

A look back at history and thanks to employees

Former employees of the company also attended the event, reminiscing about their years in production and appreciating that Granitol has not forgotten its roots. The 130th anniversary celebrations were not only a reminder of its long history but also a thank you to everyone who has played a part in the company’s journey – whether in the past or today.

“Our aim was to show people everything that goes into producing plastic packaging. We are glad we were able to show Granitol from the inside and celebrate our anniversary with those who are part of it – employees, their families and the public,” said Tereza Vyhnálková from the marketing department.

The Open Day showed that even a technical operation can be interesting to the public – when accompanied by a human touch and tradition.
