EK-INDUSTRY, s.r.o. invites to a training - Introduction to functional safety of machinery

13.4.2026
The safety of machinery is no longer just a legal obligation. It is becoming a key topic for machine manufacturers, integrators, and operators of production lines. Yet in practice, it is still evident that many problems arise right at the beginning — from an unclear understanding of responsibilities, the requirements of standards, or the differences between new machinery and machinery already in operation.

That is precisely why we have prepared the training course Introduction to the Functional Safety of Machinery, which helps establish a solid foundation for further, more advanced topics. Without a proper understanding of the interrelationships, it is impossible to effectively address risk assessment, machinery modernisation or the design of safety functions.

Why Introduction to Functional Safety Is Important

In practice, we frequently encounter questions such as:

  • Who is responsible for a machine's safety after modification?
  • When does a new assembly of machinery come into being?
  • What is the difference between a manufacturer and an operator?
  • How can you navigate standards and legislation?
  • What changes does the new Machinery Regulation introduce?

The introductory training helps explain these interrelationships and establish a foundation for further specialist topics that go into significantly greater depth.

What the Training Will Cover

The training programme is practically oriented and based on real situations from industry. Participants will gradually become familiar with:

  • the interrelationships between laws, directives, regulations and standards
  • navigating the hierarchy of standards and their application
  • requirements for new machinery under Directive 2006/42/ES
  • risk assessment and the manufacturer's responsibility
  • issues concerning machinery in use under NV 378/2001 Zb.
  • the difference between substantial and non-substantial modification
  • upcoming changes – Regulation (EÚ) 2023/1230
  • the implications of cybersecurity for machinery

The training also provides time for individual questions and consultations on specific practical situations. The schedule includes sessions devoted to legislation, standards, new machinery and machinery in use, and a final overview of upcoming changes.

Date and Venue:

16 April 2026
8:30 - 15:00
Adamov - in-person format

The training will be led by experts with practical experience:
Ing. Jakub Steklý
Ing. et Ing. Pavel Šildberger

The training is suitable for:

  • machinery manufacturers
  • integrators and designers
  • maintenance technicians
  • production line operators
  • safety technicians

Time for Individual Consultations
We place emphasis on a personal approach. The training takes place in smaller groups to allow time for specific questions and individual solutions to situations at participants' facilities.
