Synventive Technologies at K 2019 in Düsseldorf

Injection molding of quality parts poses ever greater challenges to the injection molder and the hot runner technologies used. Degree of gloss, uniformly structured surfaces, color uniformity and functional integration are determining factors for the visual quality of modern plastic parts. In addition to these factors, optimum dimensional accuracy, reproducibility and clean surfaces in the gating area are also important.

This requires advanced hot runner technologies for valve gate applications - the user needs the ability to actively control the melt flow.

activeGate®
With its activeGate® family of products, Synventive has presented a range of these melt flow control technologies at recent K Show 2019 in Düsseldorf. These products enable individual control of the melt flow at the melt entry point at each nozzle gate in the mold and offer extensive parameter settings to finally achieve a perfect part.

eGate®
For the first time at a European trade show, Synventive presented live the functionalities of the latest evolution of eGate®. The next generation eGate® gives precision molders far better options and delivers clean, quiet, and energy-efficient operation that is responsive, precise, and repeatable. The electrically actuated valve gate system is now available for large parts with high shot weights. eGate® delivers complete pin movement control at each individual nozzle and offers outstanding performance, especially for sequential valve gated and family molding applications.

The precise all-electric control of each valve pin’s position, speed, velocity, and stroke delivers greater application flexibility, balance, and pack control, in addition to warpage, part weight, and clamp force reduction. This control results in parts with superior appearances and better dimensional stability.

For an easy installation, the maintenance-free eGate® electric actuator bolts directly onto the manifold, offering both a compact footprint and small stack height. The new intuitive user interface includes a simple drag and drop editor for easy setup, recipe storage, and mold overview with varying levels of user control.

Synflow®
Equipped on a 6drop hot runner system, synflow® , the proven 2-speed pin opening control for eliminating cosmetic defects in hydraulically-operated cascade injection molding, has been operated at K Show.

In addition to controlling the initial opening speed of the pin, synflow now offers the ability to stop the valve pin at any position of the stroke. This process allows for individual flow rate control out of each nozzle to balance family molds or fill complex multi-gated geometries. Synflow also comes along with a new upgraded touch-screen user interface.

Besides the activeGate® melt pressure control technologies, Synventive showed advanced features of its Plug'n Play® hot runner series.

VMI a SynCool®3
The actuators of Synventive valve gate systems can be equipped with position sensors as standard, which provide data on the needle movement via a connection box. This allows for simple connection of a display unit (VMI - Valve Monitoring Interface) to monitor, diagnose and troubleshoot needle movement and position from outside the injection molding machine.

An indirect cooling of the actuators via proprietary thermal conductors making contact with the cooled top clamp plate, Synventive is introducing with its SynCool®3 technology. This eliminates the use of cooling plates, of direct cooled actuators, and the elaborate installation of cooling lines for most applications.

All those Synventive technologies were exhibited at the booth of the complete Barnes Molding Solutions strategic business unit, including FOBOHA, Gammaflux, männer, Priamus, Synventive, and Thermoplay,  presenting a comprehensive portfolio of mold-based solutions in Hall 1.
