PlasticPortal Editorial Team: Freedom is not a benefit – our statement on 17 November

November 17 is the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy, and even though it is no longer a public holiday under the new rules, it has not lost its meaning for us. We understand that changes in legislation and consolidation packages reshape the calendars and logistics of many companies. Values, however, should not change.

Even though the state is preventing us from celebrating freedom, we will celebrate it. We are a media outlet founded on free access to information, honest discussion and responsibility towards the professional community. The legacy of 1989 is the foundation that allows us to do our work independently. We want it to remain a reminder of the values we live by every day. We appreciate the companies and organisations that have made the same decision – not to remain silent.

At the PlasticPortal editorial office, we have decided to honour the national holiday on 17 November, and therefore we will not be working on this day. We will enjoy it, freely.
