ORLEN Unipetrol RPA

The Unipetrol Group is the largest refining and petrochemical company in the Czech Republic. It focuses on oil processing and the production, distribution and sale of fuels and petrochemical products - especially plastics and fertilizers. In all these areas, it is one of the major players in the Czech and Central European markets. The Unipetrol Group includes refineries and production plants in Litvínov and Kralupy nad Vltavou, Paramo with the Mogul brand in Pardubice and Kolín, the Spolana company in Neratovice and two research centers in Litvínov and Brno. Unipetrol also includes a network of Benzina filling stations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Benzina is the largest chain in the Czech Republic with 416 stations. Unipetrol is one of the largest companies in the Czech Republic in terms of turnover. In 2019, it earned CZK 129 billion and employs more than 4,800 people. In addition to business development, Unipetrol is proud to be a socially responsible company. It therefore pays equal attention to initiatives aimed at cultivating and promoting sustainable development, education, local communities and the environment. In 2005, Unipetrol became part of the ORLEN Group, which is the largest oil processor in Central Europe.

The company mainly supplies the market with motor fuels, heating oils, asphalts, liquefied petroleum products, oil hydrogenates, other refinery products, olefins and aromatics, agrochemicals, carbon black and sorbents, polyolefins (high-density polyethylene, polypropylene).

Thanks to the new PE3 unit, put into official operation in May 2020, Unipetrol will produce new white polyethylene (so-called Natural line) and black polyethylene (so-called Black line, or black pipe types). The commissioning of the largest petrochemical investment in the history of the Czech Republic and one of the most modern production facilities will have a positive impact on the development of Unipetrol and the entire ORLEN Group, of which Unipetrol is a part. The total production capacity of the Litvínov petrochemical plant will thus increase from 320 to 470 thousand tons of polyethylene per year.

MONOMERS AND CHEMICALS UNIT

This business unit operates in the field of petrochemical products and ammonia. It plans and manages production following oil processing and supplies semi-finished products for the subsequent polyolefin segment. It is a key supplier of ethylene, propylene, benzene, ammonia and other chemical and petrochemical raw materials for other chemical companies in the Czech Republic and Central Europe.

POLYOLEFIN UNIT

This unit operates in the field of plastics - polyolefins. It plans the production of polypropylene and high-density polyethylene and ensures their sale. In cooperation with the research and development base at the Polymer Institute Brno, the unit participates in the modification of existing and development of new polyolefin products.
The polyolefins unit is the most important supplier of polyolefins on the Czech market. Across Europe, the production capacity of high-density polyethylene is five percent, and for polypropylene, two percent of polypropylene from European production. Thanks to this, this business unit plays an important role in Central Europe.
