Price outlook: rollover and price declines

The prices of “commodity” polymers were affected by the following factors last week:

BRENT oil price $ 25.27/barrel, rising oil prices
EUR/USD: 1.0979, slightly strengthening Euro
NAPHTHA (European): 138.41 USD/t,
Contracted monomer prices in May:
- Ethylene (C2) contract price -100 EUR/t (620 EUR / t)
- Propylene (C3) contract price -80 EUR/t (570 EUR / t)
- Styrene monomer (SM) contract price at the time of writing this report is not yet known
- Producers under maintenance:
  - Rompetrol: March 15, 2020- May 5, 2020. (LDPE, PP)
  - Unipetrol: April 6, 2020 - May 18, 2020 (HDPE, PP, C2, C3)
  - Oil refineries operate at low capacity utilization.
