World premiere at the K 2016: Hybrid Allrounder with a clamping force of 6,500 kN

Arburg has pulled off an unprecedented and unique triple coup at the K 2016 with the world premiere of the hybrid Allrounder 1120 H – a new machine size in a new design with the new Gestica control system.

  • Triple coup: Hybrid Allrounder 1120 H – new size, new control system, new design
  • Prospects for the future: "Smart" Gestica control system, aesthetically appealing design and colour scheme
  • Innovative application: Turnkey system produces ready-to-use functional parts

The largest high-performance machine extends the portfolio in the clamping force range up to 6,500 kN. At the trade fair, the exhibit will produce an eight-piece folding step stool in an exclusive Arburg design.

"The new machine size with a 6,500 kN toggle-type clamping unit is the result of targeted expansion of our product portfolio," explains Heinz Gaub, Managing Director Technology & Engineering at Arburg. The hybrid Allrounder 1120 H extends the top end of the company's products, combining electric speed and precision with hydraulic power and dynamics. The dry cycle time is 2.4 seconds and the maximum opening stroke is 1,050 millimetres.

World premiere: The hybrid Allrounder 1120 H extends the Arburg product portfolio in the clamping force range up to 6,500 kN. The new design and the new Gestica control system also set the standard for the future.

New aesthetically attractive, functional design

As well as its aesthetic appeal and modern colour scheme and shape, the well-conceived design features enhanced functionality and significantly improved ergonomics. The practical extras that simplify the set-up and operating sequences of the large machine include fold-out steps for accessing the clamping unit, service cabinets for the power supply equipment and integrated LED light strips that indicate the operating state.

Visionary Gestica control system

The innovative Gestica control system also opens up a new dimension with a look and feel akin to that of smart mobile devices. These include a modern glass front, a high resolution, full HD screen and industry-grade multi-touch technology as well as one-click ergonomic hardware keys. The operating panel is also ergonomically tilted as well as height-adjustable and swiveling. The Gestica is based on all the advantages of the well-proven and industry-standard-setting Selogica control system, but permits easier and more intuitive operation. With the new "Easyslider" operating element, movements can be simply and precisely controlled and displayed via colour-variable LED technology during set-up. Acceleration and deceleration can be controlled "with a swipe of the finger" along a bar at the edge of the screen. The data records of the new Gestica and the proven Selogica control systems are fully compatible and the hierarchical structure and graphical programming system are identical.

Efficient high-performance machine

"The new Allrounder 1120 H is a response to our customers' need for large and efficient high performance machines," emphasises Gerhard Böhm, Arburg Managing Director Sales. With a clamping force of 6,500 kN and a size 4600 injection unit, the exhibit will provide evidence of its capabilities at the K 2016 in the context of an innovative turnkey solution. A 1,092 gram folding step stool designed specifically for this leading international trade fair and for this particular machine by the Design Tech design studio, which was also involved in the development of the new Allrounder, will be produced.

Assembly within the injection moulding cycle

The hybrid Allrounder 1120 H will mould eight individual PP parts in a cycle time of around 60 seconds in a single step using a family mould. During mould opening, the eight undercuts are demoulded via spring-loaded drag slides.

The associated new Multilift V 40 linear robotic system in cantilever design is precisely configured for the new machine size and has a moving demoulding axis and a load bearing capacity of 40 kilograms. It gently removes the moulded parts from the mould and sets them down precisely onto a rotary transfer table in a connected assembly station.

For the purposes of process-reliable final assembly, a six-axis robotic system works hand-in-hand with the Multilift. In the next step it attaches non-slip stoppers to the feet of the step stool and assembles the product ready for use.

 ARBURG folding step stool

At the K 2016, a turnkey system with the new hybrid Allrounder 1120 H will produce eight individual parts in one process and then assemble them automatically to form a ready-to-use folding step stool in an Arburg design.
