Characteristic of POLISINT and THERMOFIX

Polisint and Thermofix are thermoplastic coating powder which has been specifically designed to provide a long lasting, tough coating for interior and exterior application to mild steel, galvanized steel and aluminium. It is based on an alloy of modified polyethylene.

 Higher thickness of coating - specific weight of polyethylene powder is that is more than 40 % lower then that of thermosets. That mean double size thickness can be reached with the same quantity of powder.

Processing of POLISINT

Polisint is applied by electrostatic (CORONA) spraying or electro kinetic (tribo) spraying.
Metal should be solvent degreased by phosphate system before application of powder. Aluminium should be chromate degreased to remove lubricants and processing soaps. For most purposes no further treatment is necessary. For better adhesion it is recommended sand blasting to Swedish Standard SA 2˝ to 3. Then powder is applied using a Corona Discharge gun or Turbocharged gun. After application the heating schedule should be 160°C to 220°C for 5-40 min depending on metal thickness. Thickness of coating ranges from 150 to 250 microns.

Processing of THERMOFIX

Thermofix powders are applied through the process of fluid bed. It is suggested to pre-heat the metal at a temperature within 250°C - 320°C, thicker thickness of the metal requires higher temperature of pre-heating. Suggested immersion time in bath is 3-5 seconds. It is suggested a heating after the application at 170°C-180°C to optimise the surface finishing. Thickness of coating ranges from 300 to 600 microns.

Polisint is a new product on the market. It offers new possibility of polyethylene coating powder usage. Thanks to its above-mentioned characteristic and advantages it can be used mainly at:
