Under this slogan, BGS Beta-Gamma-Service GmbH & Co. KG has been irradiating a wide range of products for more than 25 years now, as a service to industry.
By using the energy from beta or gamma rays, we improve the material properties of plastic parts (radiation crosslinking) and/or destroy any microorganisms that may be present on the product (radiation sterilization).
Enhancing Polymer Properties by Radiation Crosslinking
Radiation crosslinking gives mass-produced plastics and technical plastics the mechanical, thermal, tribological and chemical properties of high-performance plastics.
The main polymers to undergo crosslinking are polyethylenes, polyamides and special thermoplastic elastomers. For all articles, irradiation always takes place independently, after the moulding process (e. g. injection/extrusion/blow moulding/rotational moulding) has been completed.
“What we do, we do with energy”
Sectors that rely on BGS for radiation crosslinking include:
Electrical industry
Fuse systems, housings, plugs, coilformers, MIDs, cables/wires, shrinkable products
Automotive industry
Components exposed to high temperatures and chemical influences, e.g. in engine compartments and exhaust systems
Heating/ plumbing
Underfloor heating pipes, pipes for drinking water supply, fittings
Other sectors
Mechanical engineering components, foils, semi-finished products, fibre-reinforced composites, packaging materials such as e.g. closures
Radiation sterilization
Medical products sector
Implants, wound management systems, dialysis systems, infusion products, catheters
Biotechnology sector
In vitro diagnostics, blood sampling systems, disposable syringes, cell culture vessels, bioreactors, pipettes, Petri dishes
Packaging materials
Closures, tubs, tubes, bottles, bag-in-box systems, primary packaging materials for the pharmaceutical industry
Miscellaneous
Raw materials, foods, animal feeds, archives and much more.
All processes are certified for compliance with ISO 9001, DIN EN ISO 13485 and
EN ISO 11137
